North Port University (NPU) is a free, eight session course of interactive classes designed to provide insight into City government and develop future leaders through well-informed and civically engaged residents. NPU gives citizens an up-close and personal look at how North Port's government functions and helps shape our community. Because of the interactive nature of the program, class size is limited to 25 participants. NPU is open to North Port residents and business owners 18 years of age and older.

Week 2: Aug. 14, Public Works
Week 3: Aug. 21, North Port Fire Rescue
Week 4: Aug. 28, North Port Police Department
Week 5: Sept. 4, Development Services
Week 6: Sept. 11, Support Services
Week 7: Sept. 18, Utilities
Week 8: Sept. 25, Parks & Recreation
Week 9: Oct. 2, Graduation
What is the start time of each session?
Each session begins promptly at 6 p.m. Please arrive a few minutes early. Locations will vary each week; This will be communicated prior to the class.
How many sessions do I need to attend to graduate?
You must attend a minimum of 6 out of the 8 sessions, including graduation. Please check the NPU schedule before registering to ensure you can attend all the sessions.
Is there a cost to attend NPU?
No, the program is free of charge for all participants.
How will photos and videos collected during this program be used?
Photos, videotape and participant information obtained during this program may be used by the City for its communications and marketing efforts.
Are refreshments provided during the sessions?
Yes, light snacks and drinks will be available.
Is transportation provided for the sessions?
Transportation is not provided, but there is ample parking available at the session locations.
