North Port Parks & Recreation Department offers a variety of general interest classes, provide something for everyone and every age! From scrapbooking to BINGLO Family Game Night, we are sure you will find a favorite activity to do here. Tot Time

Bring your little ones to play and interact with other tots on a drop-in basis. This is a great opportunity for your child to begin learning early social skills. Play equipment includes balls, riding toys, giant foam blocks and a manipulative station.

Tot Time Saturday Read-Aloud! Join us for a fun twist to your Tot Time experience. Kick off each session with an engaging read-aloud, followed by a creative, book-themed craft activity. It's a perfect way to inspire a love for reading and creativity in your little ones. Join us for a Saturday morning full of stories, imagination and hands-on fun!

Scrapbooking

Paper crafting workshops include scrapbook layouts, card making and special projects. Participants may bring their own supplies and/or purchase supplies from the instructor.

NEW - Kids Day Out

School’s out? No problem! Register your child(ren) for Kids Day Out on January 17, 2025, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and give them a day filled with excitement and adventure! This action-packed "daycation" is designed to keep kids engaged, active and inspired with hands-on arts and crafts, wild science experiments, outdoor adventures, and games galore. It’s like all the best parts of summer camp rolled into one unforgettable day!

Not only will kids make new friends and explore their creativity, but they’ll also build confidence, develop teamwork skills and stay active in a fun, safe environment. This is an opportunity for your child to enjoy a day filled with laughter, learning and boundless energy!

Registration is available in-person at the Morgan Family Community Center (6207 W. Price Blvd.) or at George Mullen Activity Center (1602 Kramer Way).

Parent/Guardian resources

For parents and guardians who need it, extended care services are available both in the morning and afternoon. The cost is $5 for morning care, $5 for afternoon care, or $10 for both.

  • Morning extended care hours: 7-8:30 a.m.
  • Afternoon extended care hours: 4:30-6 p.m.
  • During extended care time, low-key, self-directed activities are available for participants.

Youth Scholarship Program

A limited amount of funds is available from the Youth Scholarship Program to help families offset program fees. Please contact Parks & Recreation if you would like to apply for a scholarship or if you’d like to make a donation! Funds are awarded based on eligibility criteria and are contingent upon donations received to the scholarship fund. Kids Night Out

Want to enjoy an evening without the kids? Sign them up for our Kids Night Out! Kids will enjoy an evening of fun games, arts & crafts and a light dinner in a safe, supervised environment while parents get a well-deserved break and an opportunity for holiday shopping.

Masterchef Jr. Cooking Class

Learn how fun and easy cooking can be! Students will learn to make delicious recipes, from main courses to desserts and snacks, with plenty of tasting along the way.

First Aid, CPR & AED

This five-hour American Red Cross-certified hands-on class prepares students to recognize and respond appropriately to a variety of first aid, breathing and cardiac emergencies involving children and adults. First Aid, CPR & AED training meets OSHA workplace requirements. At the successful completion of this course, participants receive a digital certification for Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED valid for two years. 

Class size is limited to 10 participants. Registration is required.

Babysitter Certification & CPR

Develop your skills and assist others by providing a highly sough-after service: childcare! In partnership with the American Red Cross, this course provides training in pediatric first aid and CPR, builds your leadership skills, and gives you the knowledge to safely care for children and infants. Participants earn a First Aid/CPR certificate valid for 2 years.

Registration is required. Must attend both days.

Beat the Heat Sunset Swim

Gingerbread Workshop

Celebrate the season with us at our annual Gingerbread Workshop! Join in the fun as you decorate your very own gingerbread house and enjoy some delicious treats in a cheerful ambiance of holiday music. While you unleash your creativity, kids can enjoy festive crafts and strike a pose at our selfie station. Participants may enter their houses in our Gingerbread House contest.

Space is limited. Pre-registration is required.

Enter the Gingerbread House People's Choice Contest

The community is invited to submit Gingerbread Houses to compete in the annual Gingerbread House Contest! Participants can enter houses created at the annual Gingerbread House Workshop mentioned above, or submit their own houses created at home. Decorated gingerbread houses must be delivered to the George Mullen Activity Center on Nov. 15 from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Contest entries must not exceed 18 inches in any dimension, including board or tray, and must be constructed entirely of edible materials.

The public is welcome to visit the George Mullen Activity Center (1602 Kramer Way) to view all the entries and vote for their favorite gingerbread house from Nov. 15 through Dec. 6 (Poinsettia Festival). The gingerbread houses will remain on display throughout the event, where attendees can enjoy viewing them.
