NORTH PORT, FL - The Florida League of Cities, the united voice for Florida’s municipal governments, announced that North Port City Manager A. Jerome Fletcher II was recently appointed to serve on the Florida League of Cities 2023-24 Municipal Administration Committee, one of the League’s five Legislative Policy Committees.

Legislative Policy Committee chairs, vice chairs and members were appointed by Florida League of Cities President Greg Ross, Mayor of Cooper City.

As a Legislative Policy Committee member, Fletcher will help develop the League’s Legislative Platform, which details priority issues that are most likely to affect daily municipal governance and local decision-making during the upcoming legislative session, as well as help League staff understand the real-world implications of proposed legislation. Committee members are also asked to serve as advocates for local decision-making throughout the legislative process.

"It's an honor to be selected to this position and have the opportunity to share the perspective of the City of North Port and other Florida cities on important legislative issues," Fletcher said. "The Florida League of Cities has been a great advocate and champion for local governments and home rule, and I am excited to help them fulfill their mission through this committee role."

Fletcher became North Port City Manager on Oct. 1, 2021, and has more than 20 years of experience as a public servant and leader. He received the Credentialed Manager designation from the International City/County management Association (ICMA) in April 2022. He is also a member of the Florida City/County Managers Association (FCCMA) and serves on the FCCMA Fiscal and Administrative Policy Committee.
