North Port Parks & Recreation invites residents and visitors to embark on exciting kayaking adventures with two unique programs designed for all skill levels.

North Port Eco Adventures Discover North Port’s hidden gems with North Port Eco Adventures, a series of guided kayak tours taking place on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. on:

  • Jan. 18
  • Apr. 5
  • Jun. 7

These tours offer breathtaking views and educational experiences, highlighting the area’s rich flora and fauna. Tours cost $10 per person with a kayak provided or $5 per person if you bring your own kayak. Start location will be announced at a later date.

Learn to Yak For those new to kayaking, the Learn to Yak program is the perfect starting point. This six-week, beginner-friendly course launches on Saturday, Feb. 1 at the North Port Aquatic Center and runs every Saturday through Mar. 8. Participants will learn essential paddling techniques and water safety from trained professionals.

The course begins in the calm waters of the North Port Aquatic Center’s heated competition pool, allowing participants to build confidence before transitioning to Myakkahatchee Creek for real-world paddling experiences in a natural setting.

  • Dates: Saturdays, Feb. 1 – Mar. 8
  • Time: 8-10 a.m.
  • Location: North Port Aquatic Center and Myakkahatchee Creek
  • Cost: $75 for North Port residents | $100 for non-residents
  • Age Requirement: 10 years and older
  • Kayaks: Provided
