The City of North Port leads the scene in keeping it green

NORTH PORT, FL - The City of North Port is pleased to be hosting its Go Green with Parks program, planned to be held four times a year, including one in conjunction with Florida Arbor Day and one with National Arbor Day. The program started on Arbor Day 2023, and the purpose is to plant trees at various locations across the community to help replace the tree canopy devastated by Hurricane Ian.

“Trees play a critical role in cleaning our air and filtering our water. Native trees, whether they are planted in natural areas or urban spaces, are key to providing habitat and keeping a healthy biodiverse ecosystem. I hope the community will join us and learn more about trees and their importance to our community,” said Recreation Supervisor, Dillon George.

The next two Go Green with Parks programs will take place on Sept. 23 and Oct. 21, 2023 at 10 a.m. and the public is welcome to attend.  The event will be educational and informative for kids of all ages with craft activities, games and light refreshments.
