NORTH PORT, FL - Jason Yarborough has been promoted to the position of Deputy City Manager, the City of North Port announced Monday.

Yarborough joined the City in November 2018 as Assistant City Manager. He has more than 20 years of municipal government experience, including previous roles as City Administrator for the City of Lake Helen, Fla., and as Utilities Director in Palm Bay, Fla. He holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of West Florida and a Bachelor’s degree from Loyola University in New Orleans.

"Mr. Yarborough is an ICMA-Credentialed Manager with many years of experience in leading municipal organizations at the highest level," City Manager Jerome Fletcher said in an announcement to employees. "He was able to help lead the City of North Port forward during some challenging times before my arrival. Since then, he has done extremely well to grow professionally while leading the teams in his portfolio to much success."

The role of Deputy City Manager is not an additional position in the City's organizational chart, but a reclassification of Yarborough's existing position. He will continue to oversee the City’s Public Works, Utilities, and Development Services departments.

“I’m grateful to continue serving the community I call home with this phenomenal team under the leadership of City Manager Fletcher," Yarborough said.
